Old House 1147, Maesteg | Mary W-Thomas Photo + Film

Last August I was asked to photograph a beautiful micro wedding in the Old House 1147 near Maesteg. The newly refurbished venue was decorated with beautiful flowers by wild meadow floral and the stationery designed by the bride herself. Jemima and Ben had postponed the date from earlier in the year and had chosen to have the wedding reception at this beautiful venue due to the fantastic views and amazing food.

Jemima wore a beautiful white dress and a flower crown that was originally her mums at her wedding. She also wore a custom denim jacket.

Camera Shy? No problem | Mary W-Thomas Photo + Film

Probably the most common thing that’s said to me when I first chat to couples, is that they are a little bit camera shy. They don’t like posing but want some natural and relaxed portraits on their wedding day, Now I’m not the kind of person that create moments by posing people, but I do have a few tricks on ways to get natural shots on your wedding day. If you had looked through my portfolio, you won’t see a single person looking awkward or acting uncomfortable. That’s because I make sure people feel comfortable and confident.

  1. Make them Laugh

If you have known me for any amount of time, you will know I love to make people laugh. It’s by the far the best way to make people feel comfortable. Taking away any nerves, and making people instantly feel relaxed.

2. Focus on each other

My second tip is to focus on each other. I know this is difficult when you’re not used to being in front of the camera, but focusing on your partner. You’ll forget I’m there, and you can enjoy those moments as well as capturing authentic emotion on camera.

Pembrokeshire Elopement | Haverfordwest Wedding Photographer

Last week I had the absolute privilege of photographing this beautiful ceremony in Haverfordwest. Shannon had phoned me that Monday asking if I was free, just 5 days before their wedding day. Ofcourse I jumped for joy as it would be my first wedding of 2021. Here are some of my favourite photos from the day.

Cardiff Registry Office | Micro Wedding Photographer | Mary W-Thomas Photo + Film

These two chose to have the most amazing Micro Wedding in Cardiff City Hall. We hopped over to Bute Park for some portraits afterwards. With hints of boho themes, keeping it natural we chose to have the beautiful golden hour light as our backdrop.

Winter Micro Wedding | Carmarthenshire | Mary W-Thomas Photo + Film

In December I had the absolute pleasure of documenting a Micro Wedding in Llanboidy, Carmarthenshire. After having just a few weeks to plan their wedding due to restrictions, Sam and Matthew gathered their friends and family to join in and help out.

Engagement Shoot | Sian & Stephen

At the beginning of the year Sian reached out to me asking for an engagement shoot. We had planned it for March, but when lockdown started we decided to reschedule to when restrictions lifted.

A whole 4 months later, we finally got to meet up and take some photos!
